Best Tips for Crispy Skin
If you’re craving that perfect crispy, golden chicken skin, here’s a little trick! Start by patting the skin dry with a paper towel. This step is key to getting it nice and crispy. Then, season it generously with salt and any spices you love. The salt helps pull out moisture, giving you that crispy finish. For extra flavor, rub a little oil or melted butter on the skin before cooking. Try roasting, grilling, or pan-searing over high heat to really crisp it up. And don’t forget to let the chicken rest for a few minutes after cooking—it helps the skin firm up and get that delicious crunch!

How to Safely Freeze and Defrost Chicken
You can freeze your chicken’s expiry date with your freezer! If you’re planning to freeze our chicken, it’s best to do so right away rather than waiting until the expiry date to do so. Freezing chicken as soon as you get it home helps preserve its freshness and quality. Remember, it can take up to a day for the chicken to be fully frozen. If the chicken has 7 days left until it expires when you freeze it, you’ll have 6 days after defrosting it to use it.
When it’s time to defrost, the safest method is to place the chicken in the fridge for 24 hours before cooking. This keeps it at a safe temperature while thawing. If you’re short on time, you can defrost chicken in the microwave using the defrost setting, but be sure to cook it immediately afterward. Defrosting chicken at room temperature can lead to bacteria growth and make the chicken unsafe to eat.
How to cook chicken fully without drying it out
To fully cook chicken without making it dry, the key is to cook it gently and avoid overcooking. Start by ensuring your chicken is at room temperature before cooking, which helps it cook evenly. For roasting or baking, preheat your oven to 190°C and cook the chicken until the internal temperature reaches 75°C using a meat thermometer. To keep the meat moist, consider covering the chicken with foil for part of the cooking time, or basting it with its own juices or a marinade. If you’re pan-searing or grilling, make sure to cook it over medium heat and avoid pressing down on the chicken, as this can squeeze out the juices. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes after cooking to allow the juices to redistribute and keep the meat tender and juicy.
